This volume contains many great authentic tales of perilous adventures. We are taken with the royalty and privileged on dangerous Hunts, often in the stalking of man-eating tigers and Leopards, as well as other menacing beasts. The excitement of facing an irate Bengal tiger must be the most thrilling moment of any Hunter’s career. That apprehension becomes even greater when one is confronting a known man-eater. More dangerous game are Hunted in this volume than in all of Jim Corbett’s books combined. The colorful pageantry of those elegant outings of the mighty Maharajas, who outdid themselves in their munificent hospitality to guests, should be preserved in accounts of the elegant grand Hunts that will never be done again. Few men alive today have had such exciting adventures as these intrepid Hunters (including a brave woman) had in the early part of the 20 century. The profound expansion of populations and resultant destruction of the ecosystems preclude any possibility of recurrence of such sport of kings and Maharajas.
