Synopsis This book deals with nature, patterns and determinants of energy use in rural India.  An integrated multidisciplinary approach adopted by the author facilitates better understanding of the impact of geographical conditions on energy consumption behaviour of rural population.  The book is based on the primary data collected from 149 household families of 20 villages.  The huge quantitative and qualitative information have been generated.  Inter-household variations of energy utilization under prevailing geo-ecological conditions of the study area have also been examined.  This study deals with areas like the role of energy and development of rural society through statistical and econometric methods.  The present volume is very useful to the geographers, planners, policy makers and researchers in the energy sector.
