Synopsis The book presents collection, collation and analysis of a broad range of environment related issues concerning the global community with special emphasis on topics like environmental security, international environmental standards, remediation of contaminated sites and important international environmental agreements. The book has been divided into seven chapters dealing with specific areas of environmental concern, i.e. history of the environmental movement, causes and processes of environmental degradation, environmental pollution, other related environmental issues, environmental security, remediation of contaminated sites and multilateral environmental agreements. The book also has five appendices describing the legislative support, ambient air quality and effluent standards in India; ISO standards for environment and major conventions/protocols concerning environment.
