Synopsis Education with reference to its policy, programmes and community participation assumes greater emphasis in view of making the education system address the critical issues of education and making "Education for All" an achievable task. In order to know the school education policies of governments physical facilities available in schools, and level of community participation in school programmes, this study was undertaken. Most of the schools under study were with insufficient teachers and teaching learning material. The community participation in school programmes was quite negligible. Though accommodation was sufficient, its sharing for other activities was alarming. Lack of suitable and sufficient sports facilities was a serious issue to be taken into consideration. The teachers and parents expressed the view that quality education be imparted to students.
