Synopsis Although the difficulties of travel in the mountain land are great, yet it must be said that long, tiring marches, unsafe bridges, dangerous fords, shocking roads, and precarious supplies, do not make travelling in Chitral as uncomfortable as might be expected. This is the personal experience of the author. As such, the book presents a live record of personal narrative of the author who not only gives an account of the geographical situation of Chitral and the life of its people but also details the British Government’s policy towards this region. The whole story of Chitral revolves around the circumstances leading to the Chitral campaign and finally its siege. The book also presents an indepth investigation of Colonel Kelly’s march through the snow and General Robert Low’s advance from the south as part of the Chitral compaign. Besides, it also details an eye-witness account of the situation of the Gilgit district in the year 1895 as well as frontier politics being operative during that period. Each of the events has been described in such a way that it covers many things hither to unknown to many readers.
