Synopsis The present Fauna of India Volume-III deals with Serpents is the third and last volume of the Group. This book contains status of 326 species and subspecies of the suborder Serpentes distributed in 87 genera and 11 families with valid scientific names. This volume explains the complete account of taxonomic work of all the species and subspecies of snakes of India and adjacent areas viz; Pakistan, Nepal, Burma (Myanmar), Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Habit and habitats, status, conservation and captive breeding of the selected species, ecology, distribution and zoogeography is also explained in this volume, with the line drawings.
