Synopsis The book 'Foundations of Education' is an endeavour to provide the readers with a comprehensive but comprehensible study of such aspects of education as educational philosophy, educational sociology, contribution of great educators and the like. The author's rich teaching experience--thirteen years in a school, twenty seven years in a college of education, two years as principal of a post graduate college, has stood him in good stead while writing the present volume. He has both seen and imparted education at the school and college level and has elastically evaluated the contents and methology of education; this rare experience has rendered him very competent to write this book. For the convenience of the students, the interrelated chapters have been put into separate parts--understanding education, philosophical foundations of education, sociological foundation of education. To clarify concepts, questions at the end of each chapter, catching style to important quotations from authorities on the subject tend to make the book all the more valuable for both students and teacher educators.
