Synopsis Social work is a dynamic activity undertaken by public or private effort in the implementation of social policy, with a view to raise the standard of living and to bring about social, economic, political and cultural well-being of the individual, family and the group within a social irrespective of its stage of social development. The scope of social work has been changing with the changes in its objectives and with the changing situation. Social work service is given both by governmental departments and by non-governmental agencies supported by voluntary contributions, endowments and fees paid by those being served. The public social work programmes are administered by municipal, country, state and federal governments and in many instances cooperatively by two or more governmental units.
