Synopsis The present work substantially represents the thesis submitted by the present author for the Ph.D. degree of the University of Kerala in 1973.  The aim of this work is to enlarge the scope of our study on Advaita Vedanta and make it more significant from the point of view of ethics.  It has been the fashion with some critics to treat Sankara's ethics with suspicion and complain that, in Advaita, there is not logical place for ethics.  Sanskrit terms of technical character are not translated in this work and diacritical marks are omitted in the case of well known words.
