Synopsis Geographers chronicle, analyze, and often predict such changes. The old image of place-name and product-list geography has finally faded in the face of spatial and territorial transformations brought on by recent economic and political changes, of satellite imagery and computer cartography, of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis.  It has been thoroughly revised to address contemporary economic and environmental issues such as deindustrialization and the rise of the service sector, and the human alteration of the physical environment.
