Synopsis Teaching and learning of English has gained great prominence in the past few years in not only India but also Asia. It is this need that has led to the germination of idea to write a book on English Language Teaching (ELT). The book prepares the future teachers of English for this task. Starting from the role of English in India at present and covering up the importance of all the four language skills, viz reading, writing, listening and speaking, the book goes on the talk about the various aid to be used while teaching English (poetry reading, spelling, writing etc) and the role of mother tongue and evaluation, concluding with the model of lesson plan.
