Synopsis This book attempts to address the various issues pertaining to environmental issues in potable water in rural areas in the state of Tamil Nadu. Discerning the rural water supply to understand the pattern of water use, it analyses the cost aspects, factors influencing water use, distance travelled, time spent and organizing and availing the services. It also tries to study the environmental dimensions of drinking water at village level with respect to depletion of natural resources, degradation of water quality, and the vulnerability of women and children to degradation of environment.
