Synopsis This work is an attempt at elucidating the interplay of historical, cultural and archaeological ideas of the development of ancient and medieval Nepalese life through the ages of its existence. Ordinarily very few works lay emphasis on the interrogated aspect of Nepalâs history and culture as a development of the changing patterns of its history and culture and of the nature of change in the structural forms of the national thoughts. Nepalâs history and culture has been a changeful continuity which givers a sustaining base and a progressive outlook. This aspect of Nepalese life and culture is what the author has attempted to delineate in this work through different papers. As his approach is popular, the author lays less stress on the specialized features of ancient and medieval Nepal. In the depiction of the historical and cultural forces, he has tried to bring out the importance of the changing elements in the kaleidoscope of ancient Nepalese life.
