Synopsis The Suryapahar, a monument of excellence in North-East deals in details about the growth and development and evolution of Suryapahar as an important center for artistic effolerance of the three important religions of India i.e. Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism and artists of by gone days has left behind artistic evidences in the form of rock cut stupas of the Buddhist, rock cut caves, brick and stone temples, sculptures of Hindu Gods & Goddesses viz Vishnu, Ganesha, Shiva, Shakti, Shivalingas, Vishnu’s foot prints, Lotus within railing (sun worship) Kirtimukha, Chaitya window motif, decorative bricks, T.C. figurines of high artistic merits etc. Besides three numbers of rock cut figures of Jain Tirthankar with Kayotsarga pose etc. curved on the surface of rock of the natural caves.
