Synopsis The IT revolution and the social changes in the last two decades have created new literary needs for writers and publishers.  Editors of all standard style books have responded to these needs by updating their manuals.  But their voluminous manuals appear too forbidding - in terms of both cost and complexity - to young scholars.  What they need is a handbook which would offer them some easy-to-follow guidance on writing scholarly papers.  Critical Thinking and Planned Writing is an attempt to meet this need by placing in the hands of young scholars an affordable hand book which contains enough instructions to achieve their goals.  It emerges from the fifteen-year-long teaching experience of the authors.  Following the classical rules of critical thinking and the directions offered in the 15th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style, it offers guidance to young scholars in humanities and social sciences on writing scholarly papers.
