Synopsis The role of governor in making and unmaking of the governments is a widely discussed subject with significant literature and judicial pronouncements available on it. However, there are many important areas in the governance of the state such as rules of business, administration of Scheduled Areas and Governor as Chancellor of the universities, which have not been adequately discussed. The thoughtfulness of the founding fathers of the Indian Constitution in providing the useful institution of the Governor for maintaining the unitary character of the Indian Republic and the diversity in the views of the academicians, the jurists, the bureaucrats and the politicians on the role and desirability of the institution of governor are the central focus of the book.
