Synopsis There has been a resurgence in the consumption and demand for medicinal plants. It continues to be an important therapeutic aid for alleviating ailments of humankind as pharmaceuticals, neutraceuticals, cosmetics and food supplements. Given the demands of the market for a continuous and uniform supply of raw materials, and the increasing depletion of the forest resource base, expanding the number of medicinal plants in cultivation appears to be an important strategy for research and developments.
