Synopsis The complexity of the problem of women empowerment process itself requires both macro and micro considerations, and it is difficult to pass a judgment on its success by using a single or just a few selected criteria. The major discussion of empowerment process pertains mainly to the profile of women workforce, status of female-headed households, policies and programmes related to women, empowerment of women through literacy and women in Panchayat.
