Synopsis The thirty-five papers in this festschrift, in honour of Dr. Ravindra N. Sharma, Dean of the Library at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, New Jersey, USA, attempt to analyse the different aspects of South Asian librarianship. Highlighting the wide-ranging contributions of Dr. Sharma towards the development of library and information science, the contributors address issues concerning library and information science education. They also deliberate on the problems and prospects of University libraries, National and Public libraries and special libraries; information systems and networks; bibliographical control; and technical services.
