Synopsis In the long drawn political struggle for the attainment of swaraj several non-violent satyagrahis under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and other regional leaders suffered in jails. The main thrust of two volumes of Freedom Fighters in Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh is on the sacrifices from the Non-Cooperation Movement to the Quit India Movement. Their arrest and conviction under various sections of IPC, and Cr. P.C. was the glaring phenomenon on account of their participation in the freedom movement. The author has explained his limitation in the comprehensive Introduction. In fact these volumes would be useful for teachers, scholars and students of Modern Indian History.
