Synopsis Mulberry (Morus spp.) is an important commercial crop cultivated extensively both in temperate and tropical climatic conditions as a sole food plant for silkworm, Bombayx mori. Being perennial, deep rooted, high biomass producing foliage plant, mulberry gained importance in sericulture industry as a food resource for silk worms. Besides, other factors, no doubt, leaf quality of mulberry plays a pivotal role in up keeping of silkworms and production of silk. This has generated an interest in seri-biologists to develop a variety of improved strains of mulberry by continuous breeding efforts. Moreover, researches were also carried out to explore and develop disease resistant mulberry plants with superior leaf quality. The present book entitle Mulberry Sericulture : Problems and Prospects, has been painted on a large canvas with broad strokes comprising 19 chapters by experts and researchers delved in their respective fields covering the subject area.
