Synopsis This edited volume on "Women Work Participation and Empowerment : Problems and Prospects" is a joint collaboration of twenty-seven papers on different aspects of this important issue which relates with almost 50 per cent population of any country. Women are the worse sufferers of the economic and social problems of any country due to a tendency of sex discrimination towards them and there is a need to focus attention on the evaluation and solution of this problem. Many government policies are being made and implemented for the betterment of women. Their success or failure stories also need examination. Women’s share in the labour market and women’s standing and status in the capital, organisation and entrepreneurship market also demand comparison. This book is an effort in these directions. The book will be useful to all those, who are in any way interested and involved in women studies and policies for the betterment and upliftment of women workers in India and elsewhere. Such studies develop awareness towards problems and creates prospects for their betterment, if not solution.
