Synopsis Woman is recognized as a symbol of patience, peace, politeness, progress and power. As we know that woman is the companion of man gifted with equal mental capacity. Every effort is being made to bring women folk at par with our male fraternity and today women are better entrepreneurs and development managers in all spheres of activities. However, unless the woman feels empowered both in rural and urban areas and is allowed to take independent decision, full potentialities of this section of the human resources cannot be achieved at optimal level. In this era of globalization, women's empowerment in terns of skills and achievements has become imperative. Even the great Nobel Laureat Dr. Amartya Sen in his book entitled Identity and Violence' has highly recommended for the emancipation of woman as a basic ingredient of human resource capital. In the present economic scenario of globalization, therefore, in the development administration empowerment of women is to be ensured with the help of policy planning, NGOs participation and other academic activities. This book focuses on some of the important issues which are important which regard to empowerment of the fifty percent of the population in a very real sense. Articles from academicians, fields workers, social activities and important NGOs have been incorporated in order to make a comprehensive study of different issues and present a cohesive system for such empowerment. This effort will be completed in three volumes of which present one is first in the series.
