Synopsis The book on, empowerment of women has eighteen chapters. It begins with an extract of speach of P.M. on launch of women empowerment year on January, 4, 2001. This is followed by the National Policy for Empowerment of Women 2001, and a chapter each on the empowerment of women a social process and measuring gender empowerment. The chapters IV to XII are based on individual research studies and cover aspects of empowering women through financial assistance schemes, empowerment of women farmers, empowerment and entrepreneurial development of women through financial institutions, perception of three generation of voters and Panchayat members towards political empowerment of women, empowerment of women sarpanches and panches, women empowerment in dairy sector, empowerment of poor women through developmental programme, KVK’s and rural women empowerment, information empowerment through print media, youth empowerment on legal issues, inter gender managerial effectiveness and empowerment of administrations while the remaining two chapters cover restructuring of Home Science education for empowerment of women and role of Harayana Commission for women in empowering women.
