Synopsis This book deals with the official nationalist discourse of 'integration' and its dialogue with the newly emerging intellectuals among the Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh since 1950’s. In the process of this dialogue emerged an agenda of resistance against the officially sponsored 'cultural hegemony' and a process of identity formation. However the book argues that the identity formation is a process and therefore critiques the essentialist concept of identity.
