This book is written in the 1920s is an interesting travelogue of the journey undertaken overland to Chinese Turkistan through the Karakoram Mountains and Passes, by the author the then British Consular General to Chinese Turkistan. It is a story of the times when the main form of travel was on horse back or on foot. The author takes us to many places in his journey and each step gives us a vivid idea of the vistas and ways of the people of the time.
