Synopsis This book is specially prepared for B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. students of I & II semester of all engineering colleges of Maha Maya technical university, Noida and Gautam Buddha university, Lucknow. Unit I, II, III and IV is from the original textbook, engineering mechanics.  Unit-v is newly developed as per the revised syllabus. In this unit we have covered the topics here, "bending moment and shear force", "simple stress and strains", "pure bending of beams" and "torsion".  After adding the unit v, the book is completely updated as per the syllabus and also useful for the students of U.P. technical university, Lucknow.  To make it more useful, large number of worked examples have been given and graded in a systematic manner and logical sequences.  At the end of each chapter, large number of unsolved exercises with answers have been added for the students, to solve them independently.
