Synopsis This work mirrors post-reform economic situation of our country and portrays an up-to-date picture of contours manifesting movement of our society towards achievement of major socio-economic goals. Reform-effects of a decade have been assessed on GNP, gross domestic saving, per capita income, export performance, performance of agriculture and industry, labour market situation (in terms of employment generation and real wages) poverty alleviation, capital movement, banking and financial sector behaviour, investment trend of the public sector, environmental situation and ecological balances, etc. It contains also the vision for emerging India in future and a rich discourse into the normative side through focus on ‘safety-net’ for farmers exposed to a new competitive environment, enhancement of ‘knowledge-base’, resoling of various structural issues, transmission of the positive impact of reforms into the rural sector and cautious monitoring of the working of the MNC’s by the government, etc.
