Synopsis

The novel 'The great expectations' was written in 1860 and until now it has been periodically re-edited in many languages and countries.

The story is that of a boy whose life is changing over the night and he is therefore forced to adapt by himself because his family is not capable of offering him any help or support. Pip is orphan and his sister and brother in law Joe and Joseph Gargery are taking care of him. Besides the fact that they all live in poverty, Pip is often beaten sometimes with no reason by his sister. One night while taking a walk through the swamp. Pip is caught by an escaped prisoner who asks him for food and for complete discretion. Else the prisoner said he'll hill him. Frightened the child obeys and brings food to the prisoner, and also tries to protect him and help him to leave the area safely. However he is traumatized after meeting this man and begins having frequent nightmares with him.
