Synopsis The book on Forage Production in Drylands of Arid and Semi-Arid Regions, compiled and edited by Drs. N.K. Sharma, R.P. Singh, M.S. Yadav and K.C. Singh, meets the requirements of increasing forage production. Some of the important techniques like fencing, soil and water conservation procedures, reseeding, introduction of legumes, and fertilizer application, etc. in grassland management have been highlighted. Forage production through agri-pasture systems on arable lands is yet another important feature, besides emphasizing forage production from silvo-pasture management systems, cultivated forgaes, etc. Important characteristics and productivity potentials of 17 pasture grasses and 8 pasture legumes are given. More importantly, the possibilities of taking advantage of 27 top feed tree species, which can be grown in arid and semi-arid regions, have been exploited for supplementing the forage resources. Nursery, techniques, seed production procedures and forage conservation aspects have been given due consideration in the book.
