Calling the Naga movement the mother of armed struggle in India, the volume deals with the history of the Naga people, covering events from the history of the birth of the state of Nagaland to the current movement by the National Socialist Council of Nagalim for the unification of Naga-inhabited areas in the North-east of India under one administration. It deals with the armed movement the Nagas launched under the leadership of Zapuhizo in the early 1950s to form an independent country. It discusses the various stages through which the Naga struggle has passed since them, mobilising political consciousness among the people and organising a guerrilla force.
