Synopsis In the long-drawn process of civilization in our sub-continent the trio-phenomenon of Culture, Religion and Traditions had complex innings which had deep bearing on numerous castes, races and creeds. In fact the societal existence depended upon a routine-like following on varied rituals of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Brahmanism and Islam. For several centuries these have been practised in one form or the other in the regions of India. Other factors which cemented the bonds of unity and discipline were the status of women and their role in domestic and non-domestic affairs, celebration of festivals, the mode of living and the over-all behaviour in society. The study of Culture, Religion and Traditions would be useful for teachers, researchers, students, religious and cultural institutions in our sub-continent, South-East Asia and elsewhere.
