Synopsis The book deals with 1474 species of plants possessing medicinal properties. These species are distributed throughout the state of Tamil Nadu, which harbours one of the important tropical forest areas in India. Supplemented with 103 colour photographs of important medicinal plants and tribal people of Tamil Nadu, this is the second volume in the series. Medicinal Plants of India, Volume 2--Tamil Nadu gives the botanical names of the species with updated nomenclature and family name. Brief description of the species with emphasis on field characters and their district-wise distribution in Tamil Nadu, along with their Tamil names is provided. The chemical constituents of these species, their general uses and uses in Siddha and Ayurveda systems of medicine are elaborated. Endangered medicinal plants of the state and important preparations in Siddha and Ayurveda systems of medicine of the respective species are highlighted.
