Flora of Gangotri National Park provides a detailed floristic account of 982 taxa of Pteridophytes, [68 Species and one variety in 25 genera and 18 families], Gymnosperms [11 species and one variety in 07 genera and 04 families] and Angiosperms [844 species, 22 subspecies and 35 varieties in 357 genera and 87 families] with identification keys based on easily observable field characters and detailed notes on taxonomy, status, uses and etymology of genus and species names of phanerogams. The descriptions are supported by over 1000 color photographs and 31 plates of line-drawing. The book follows user-friendly format with ‘Know-at-Glance’ boxes giving unparalleled general information. It also provides a significant overview of the ‘Glacial Flora of the Himalaya’. Considering the fact that flora also comments on species growing in park environs, allied taxa and components of species complexes, the applicability of this work is beyond the area of the park and it is utilizable for all protected areas and forest divisions covering greater and trans Himalayan regions of India and the adjoining countries.
