The volume provides an overview of exclusion and marginalisation of women in South and Central Asia and the challenges before the society and the state for promoting an inclusive society in which women get equal opportunities and access to resources. The outcome of an international conference , the papers throw light on Constitutional provisions and safeguards and special initiatives taken by the state and implementation of international conventions. They deal with recruitment of women in media, the visual/textual marginalisation of women, role of women journalists in conflict prone areas, and rights and citizenship of Dalit women.
