The book is an in-depth study of the festivals of the tribes of Nagaland. It throws light on aspects of the spread of the seventeen tribes featured and their socio-cultural and religious life. It describes the areas where each tribe resides, the dress and accessories of the men and women of each tribe, and some of the traditions of each tribe. It views in detail their festivals, discussing the nature of the festival, the way it is conducted over the days, its ritual practices, and its games, songs and dances. It includes some translations of the songs sung during the festivals, along with their transliteration into roman script, to provide readers a glimpse of the perceptions of the people and culture vis-à-vis nature, family life and vicissitudes of life. A general introduction traces commonness among the Naga tribes and provides some tourist destinations and approaches to the state.
