The present work brings forth a brief review of the antecedents of Mahayana Buddhism, linguistic evolution of Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit and the relevent literature composed therewith. It seeks to study this text in the light of chronological and stylistic evolution in the backdrop of contemporary religious developments. It also aims to delineate the evolution of various Mahayanic doctrines as depicted in this text. The inquiry into the numeroud ethical principles and tenets as illustrated in Lankavatarasutra is of profound relevance to the scholars and student alike.
