The book attempts to identify and highlight various conceptual, legal, institutional issues emerged in the JFM model of joint management of the local forest resource. It discusses perceptions, understanding, practices, customary rights and privileges, cultural practices and indigenous knowledge of different tribes with respect to protection, conservation and management of forests. It focuses various livelihood and food security issues, besides the benefit sharing aspect as well as equity in particular in JFM.
