A compilation of writings and lectures by V. Balachandran, a former Special Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, during the last 15 years, the volume explores aspects of India’s national security. It discusses the flaws in the present system security, intelligence process and policing in India which is yet to reform its intelligence, security and police apparatus. Pointing out that there has been no worthwhile reforms for decades in India’s intelligence integration methodology and in policing and so the country has been unable to meet complicated challenges of security an intelligence today, it emphasises the pluralistic security order for the twenty-first century and the media’s role in national security context. It examines India’s relations with its neighbours in the context of security.
