The book examines the strategic importance of the region of South Asia and delves into the new transnational dimensions of security in the region as a result of developments like simultaneous rise of several powers. Covering issues relating to spread of weapons of mass destruction, fighting terrorism, energy security and stability, slowing climate change, maritime security and cyber security, it takes up questions relating to nature of governance in South Asia which is weak, there being rebellion and internal violence.
