This collection of 27 papers addresses the critical issue of extremism in North East India. Taking stock of the extent of extremism in the region, it discusses at length the extremism and conflict resolution in the context of militancy in Assam, the issues of security and sustainable development in the region, and state response to violence.

It also deals with Ulfa’s extremism, communal extremism, the role of religion and politics, human rights violation, regional disparity, major extremist organizations, ethnic revivalism, the formation of NSCN (IM), and the role of education in preventing of extremism.
