Synopsis

The adventurous life of a newsman, At Large in the World is an account of the author’s journey from his childhood in the hills to his experiences as a journalist with renowned newspapers. It discribes the author’s escapades as he travels to different parts of the country in search of news. He began his career with the Hindustan Times, then moved on to the Times of India and finally the Indian Express. He has covered the conflicts in Tibet, Kenya and Afghanistan. He has closely monitored the Nagas’ fight for freedom from the Indian state, the Sino-Indian War in 1962, the turmoil in Indonesia which led to the ouster of Sukarno. He has written about the plight of Kuwaitis after the country’s invasion by Iraq, negotiated in the Sikkim talks with Prime Minister Shastri and covered the Palestinian uprising. His memoir provides insight into some landmark events in Indian and world history.
