This book seeks to explore dalit liberative hermeneutics in India, based on the life and predicament of Prophet Jeremiah. Providing a brief socio-historical background of the prophet, it presents a commentary on the book of Jeremiah highlighting the issues and concerns of the prophet based on the words of the biblical text.

The commentary is followed by an appropriation of each passage or section to the dalit liberative hermeneutics for which examples are drawn from the current situation existing in India today. It mainly focuses on the dialogue between the biblical text and dalit situation. It also analyses the relevance of Jeremianic text to the struggle of dalits, in general, and dalit Christians, in particular.
