This book, enriched with maps, layout plans and beautiful photographs, presents a panoramic view of Banteay Chhmar, an important monument of ancient Cambodia, built in the late 12th century by its greatest king, Jayavarman VII. Going deep into the history and inscriptions, it discusses at length the ritual space of the Banteay Chhmar Temple, its restoration and its conservation project.

It also describes the two of the greatest innovations of Khmer sacred architecture: the long gallery reliefs with scenes of daily life and the major political and military moments of Jayavarman’s reign, and the face-towers of the Bayon state temple.
