Synopsis The Ummah, Pan Islamism and Muslim Nation-States is an unusual work of history. It is not history but deals with history, especially of the political developments of early 20 century that played a major role in shaping the modern West Asia. Besides, the book tries to define the unique status and mission of the Muslim Ummah and suggests ways as to how it can revive itself for the wellbeing of mankind. The book specially focuses on Arab-Islamic unity which, in view of the author, is both a purpose as well as a methodology. His conclusion is that West Asia needs a ‘fulcrum state’ that would free this rich and strategically located region from foreign intervention and domination.
