This present book is a humble endeavour by young scholars from India's northeast to develop a gender-centric discourse focusing on a plethora of issues and problems that are encountered by women in the region. The focal point of the book is women and society and its interplay in Northeast India. The essays in this volume throw light on multiple aspects of women lives and the dimensions of women studies in the region. Majority of them are outcome of empirical research done by the individual contributors. The issues addressed in the book, although out in the context of Northeast India owe greater significance for the women in wider socioeconomic and political contexts.
